What is the Best Workout For Football Players?

070908_JDW_southcarolina_063 by Josh D. Weiss

So what is the best workout for football players? Well, that is a loaded question, but I am going to definitely tell you about a "must have" ingredient for you to include into your football strength training program!

It is no secret that exercises for football have to be explosive and dynamic in nature. In my experience I must say that to get the edge on your competition you have got to include kettlebells into your football workout program. As you may know kettlebells are an ancient strength and conditioning device that are tremendous for helping you to develop core strength, power, and conditioning that is second to nothing. The beauty of training with kettlebells is that you can mimic both explosive related Olympic lifts with the bell, as well as, more endurance type lifts for superior conditioning.

The base lift of the kettlebell, known as the double arm swing, can be implemented right into your football strength training workout and can be done anywhere at anytime! The cool thing about a good solid kettlebell workout is that it can be easily injected into your current program. This tool is great as both a primary training device, as well as, a killer supplemental means of training. The types of movements that are executed with kettlebell workouts involve your entire body and do not "isolate" a particular movement. Instead of isolation the kettlebell better trains your body to handle a good resistance through movement based exercises. This is why it is so pertinent to the game of football.

Take the time to endure the learning curve on kettlebell training and get them included into your own workouts. I guarantee you your competition isn't, and I am telling you as a professional it will make your life much easier when you find that you are hitting your competition in the mouth a lot harder than they are to you! Train hard, but train smart my friend.

Football Conditioning - The Single Best Exercise For Off-Season Football Conditioning!

UGA Football by visit athens ga

With a game like football that requires more physical ability and overall resiliency than possibly any other sport you have got to have the best conditioning plan in place to withstand the season. I have included the single best exercise you can incorporate into your training program in order to achieve both top notch muscular endurance and superior cardiovascular fitness for football.

I would like to introduce to you the kettlebell swing. As you may know the kettlebell is quite possibly the single best strength and conditioning device around. I say this because of it's versatility and broad range of lifts that you can perform with it. However, for the purpose of this article I am going to explain a single base strength endurance lift that you can implement into your football exercise program to take your game to new heights.

As I mentioned before the kettlebell swing is a strength endurance type lift that stimulates hundreds of your muscles at one time to help you obtain total body strength and endurance. The exercise is performed by you swinging the kettlebell back and forth from between your legs up to chest height. This is done by performing what is known as the hip snap. The hip snap is a similar movement that you would implement with any other big core lift such as standard hang cleans and power cleans. However, with the kettlebell it is more continuous. This hip snap is done by you fluently and consistently flexing and extending at both your hips and knees to create the necessary momentum to swing the iron bell back and forth in an arc like motion. This strength training and conditioning workout for football is second to nothing.

If you want to take your gridiron game to the next level then you have got to invest the time to learn about the iron kettlebell and how to swing it! Train hard my friend and remember to finish the drill!

Football Strength and Conditioning - The Best Football Strength and Conditioning Workouts Today!

IMG_0194 by Steph Anderson

I am pleased to tell you that if you implement the following type of strength and conditioning workout for your personal program that your football game will significantly improve. Many programs implement sound training strategies in order to develop explosiveness, speed, and power, but they do lack a great deal of conditioning that should come with it.

This is why I am pleased to introduce to you the ancient kettlebell! That's right, I said kettlebell. This ancient strength and conditioning device is one that today's modern athlete cannot afford to ignore. The difference in training with the kettlebell versus any other traditional means (like dumbbells and barbells) is that you implement a ton of dynamic movement along with moving the weighted ball. This not only helps you with strength, but it takes your conditioning to places you have never experienced.

The fact is that you can implement what I like to refer to as "hybrid" type lifts that mimic explosive type lifts and lifts for brute strength. Kettlebell training allows you to develop superior core power and overall resiliency making your body tougher and better able to withstand the vigorous football season. Your football strength and conditioning workouts have to be designed to get your body prepared for the season and kettlebell training fits that mold better than anything!
Take the time to learn what football strength and conditioning exercises you can implement with kettlebell training. Go ahead and take your pick because they are all beneficial. To make it easy for you can access the rest of my articles for free. Remember to train hard, but train hard my friend!

Baseball Strength - The 2 Best Exercises For Baseball Players to Build Game Record Strength!

cubs 09/02/2009 derek lee by unlikelymoose

In order to be a good baseball player you have got to be a good athlete! Athleticism is built by having a smart strength and conditioning program in place in order for you to be competitive. I have included 2 tremendous strength training exercises here to significantly improve your baseball playing skills!

1. The Double Arm Kettlebell Swing: The smart strength training workout for baseball involves a kettlebell. The double arm kettlebell swing is the base strength endurance lift used in kettlebell training to build superior core strength and all around total body conditioning. This particular exercise is executing by swinging the kettlebell from between your legs up to chest level with both arms. The swinging is done by you having to properly implement a movement known as the hip snap. This movement is done by fluently and continuously flexing and extending at your hips and knees to create the necessary momentum to swing the kettlebell in an arc like motion. This particular movement is priceless when it comes down to developing superior athletic movements and fitness that is specific to baseball.

2. The Single Arm Kettlebell Swing: This lift is executed in the same way as the double arm version with a few more exceptions other than the obvious one arm difference. First of all, to execute this drill you will swing the kettlebell back and forth like the double arm swing. The first lesser known detail though is going to be in your grip. In order to execute this exercise you must grip the bell with a hooking grip. To do this simply grab the bell's handle with your hand with it still on the ground. Make sure that you rotate your grip until your knuckles point directly at the sphere of the bell. If you are gripping it with your right hand then make sure to grab the bell towards the left side of the handle. Reverse this with the other hand. The next detail is to make sure that when you hike the kettlebell between your legs on the descent to allow your hand and forearm to rotate thumbs down. As you ascend in the top of the swing allow your hand and forearm to rotate back to a "palms down" position. Execute these couple of lifts and you will have strength training workout that will significantly boost your baseball game! Train hard and enjoy my friend.

Extraordinary Strength - The Single Best Way to Build Superior Strength is Here!

Power Lifter Strong Man by Chris Lopez
If you are serious about packing on muscle, building strength, and fine tuning your athleticism then there is no better recipe for it than kettlebell training! That's right, in order to build both strength endurance and raw muscular strength you have got to include the iron cannonball into your personal program.

In order to be successful in packing on extra muscle you have got to have two main ingredients. The first ingredient is that you have to have a smart nutrition plan. Nutrition is a variable that is not to be ignored, but for the sake of this article I am going to address the second variable which has to do with including smart workouts to build strength which in turn will result in added muscle mass. In order to achieve these variables through your workouts you have got to incorporate kettlebell training.

Kettlebell training is very dynamic in nature and is done by executing whole body movements that incorporate hundreds of muscles at once in order for you to tame the iron cannonball! The base lift of the kettlebell is the double arm kettlebell swing and is the single best exercise for raw strength and strength endurance. When doing lifts such as the double arm swing you train your body in a specific way to stimulate your nervous system which in turn will significantly help you with lean muscular development. This will occur much quicker when challenging your body through multi-joint style movements which are easily obtained through the training style of kettlebells.

In order to accomplish your strength and muscle developing goals you have got to have the inner drive and a sound training plan. Remember to train hard, but train smart too my friends! Take the time to get acquainted with the kettlebell!

Runner's Fitness - What is the Single Best Exercise For Runners?

Desert runner by Christopher Futcherstrong runner by Sidney Ou

I must say that if you are really wanting to improve your running performance then you have got to have a smart strength training program. I am pleased to introduce to you the kettlebell swing!
The kettlebell swing is a single strength endurance exercise that involves hundreds of muscles and sets at the top of the food chain in terms of strength training workouts for runners.

By performing the kettlebell swing you will find that your level of perceived exertion will go through the roof! Swinging this iron cannonball back and forth between your legs strengthens your hips, thighs, glutes, hamstrings, back, core, shoulders, and arms all within a single movement. You gain the benefit of both muscular endurance and superior cardiovascular fitness.

In order to perform this exercise you must swing the kettlebell from between your legs up to chest level. This is done by you fluently flexing and extending at both your hips and knees in continuous fashion to create the necessary momentum to swing the iron ball back and forth between your legs. This is the best core strengthening exercise for runners to perform when compared to any other form of resistance training. Strength and conditioning for runners is a must. In order to be at your best your training has to be at its best.

Take the time to endure the learning curve on kettlebell training my friend. Taking the necessary time to figure out the proper form and technique will take your workouts and running fitness to all new heights! Train hard and enjoy my friends.

Kettlebells and Building Speed!

Muscles are funny! They will respond to whatever training stimulus that you place on them. Its like working with a child or a pet to some degree. In other words, if you train your muscles for size characteristics then muscles will give you size characteristics, if you train for strength characteristics then muscles will respond by getting stronger, and if you train them to be explosive and quick in nature then they will respond accordingly. Whatever you want your muscles to do you can exercise and condition them to do it. So for the sake of this article I want to point out how kettlebells will get them faster!

The key to any of the characteristics of specific muscular development is strength. I have said that tension is the key to building strength. Kettlebells are a great way to tension the body and build strength. The great thing about kettlebells is that they can be manipulated and structured in such a way as to build on brute force strength, as well as, explosive muscular power. This is how they can help you to build on your speed and athletic performance. When you execute what I like to call strength endurance movements such as double-arm swings, single-arm swings, and overhead snatches you engage your body to produce a great deal of quick explosive movements.

Sprinter by sprintist86
This particular type of lifting with kettlebells enhances both your base strength and your overall conditioning. These "quick" movements produce that power you need in order to be fast and quick. It keeps your body "sharp" so to speak. It does this by stimulating your nervous system thereby training your body to perform quick explosive actions with an additional load. This is how you get faster, because if you can perform these quick explosive movements with an additional load then you won't have any problem moving your own body-weight around when its time for competition!

To enhance your speed you need to utilize the power of kettlebell training. Feel free to read my other material on kettlebells and how you can develop more of whatever you want, and how to teach your muscles to do it.

Kettlebell Strength - Strength Endurance Training Movements!

Basically you have to know that there are different movements involved when doing different lifts. I have addressed the concept of slower tension related movements in one of my other articles so for this one I want to talk about strength endurance related movements. When talking about kettlebell training these movements are more for generating a high level of perceived exertion which in turn yields a high level of conditioning.

To start, when I talk about strength endurance related movements I am referring to lifts such as the commonly known double-arm swing, single-arm swing, and overhead snatch. These aren't all, but they are some of the more common related lifts. If you have ever executed these with the kettlebell then you understand that they produce tremendous cardiovascular conditioning and make weight-loss an easy task! These type of faster executed strength endurance lifts are great for alternating with the slower tension related lifts. By doing this you give your body overall balance and challenge it to keep adapting for optimal strength and fitness gains. The faster movements also stimulate the nervous system giving you sharper more forceful muscular response and contraction!

The key to lifting with kettlebells or any other form of strength training is to make sure that you are covering as many of the different types of movements as possible. This will ensure you a great deal of success in obtaining the highest level of your personal level of fitness. Be diverse in your training and utilize the kettlebells in every way you can!

The Kettlebell + The Baseball Pitcher = Success!

As you know pitching involves a lot of technique that incorporates a lot more than just throwing the ball with your arm. Your entire body has to be working as a solid unit to create the maximum amount of force in order to blow the ball by a batter! Because of the physical exertion that is required with pitching you must make certain that your body is properly trained and conditioned in order to endure the taxing feat of throwing the ball hard over and over again.

As a strength and conditioning specialist I will tell you that there is no better friend to the baseball pitcher than the ancient kettlebell. Kettlebell training for the baseball pitcher is a definite way for a player to gain the edge on the competition. If you have a strength and conditioning program for baseball then you have got to include the kettlebell into your current program or change from what you are already doing.

I will tell you that if you aren't willing to change then you will not experience the true benefit of this ancient strength training device. Kettlebells have been around for over three centuries and have been used by the world's greatest strongmen and athletes. If you don't consider utilizing this tool to increase your pitching performance then you are doing yourself a disservice! Executing some of the more basic lifts with the kettlebell such as swings and snatches are also great for promoting further shoulder stability and strength which is a necessity for a pitcher.

Take the time to endure the learning curve of kettlebell training. If you haven't already done it then you need to invest in your own bell as soon as you finish reading this article. Feel free to access my other articles on how you can start!

Kettlebell Construction - 2 Kettlebell Drills to Help You Build the Perfect Body!

If you are going to construct the perfect body you need a sound plan and some good tools. Well, if you had to pick only one tool then the only tool you would need for your hard-body construction project is the kettlebell. With all of my years of experience and studying the human body the one device that has stood out to impress me more than anything happens to be the oldest device. The kettlebell has been around for centuries and strongmen and olympians have understood it's powerful contribution to human performance and all out strength for a long time! It has a legacy of constructing and forging body's that consist of the greatest characteristics of total lean muscle mass and pure athleticism. Check out the following 2 drills that you can use in your own strength and conditioning program in order to follow in the legacy of the kettlebell!

1. The One-Arm Turkish Get-Up: This particular drill is a bit complex and should only be attempted by an experienced kettlebell man or woman! This drill has a few variations. For the sake of this article I am addressing the single-arm single-leg turkish get-up. To begin, lie on the ground face up. Make sure that your right leg is bent and your left is straight. Reach over and pick up the kettlebell with your right arm and press it straight up until your arm is locked out and is perpendicular to the floor. From here you need to begin a gradual roll with your body to your left until you have popped up onto your left elbow. The right arm must stay locked out with the kettlebell above your head throughout this entire drill. Once on your left elbow again pop yourself up from being on your left elbow to being on your left hand.

So now your left arm is supporting your weight while you are in a seated position. Your right leg should still be bent with your foot flat on the ground. From here your left and right shoulders should be locked into the sockets. Next, push off of your right leg raising your hips and butt off of the ground. Your left leg should be straight. Next, in one single smooth move, swoop your left leg back towards you and underneath your body until your weight is on your left knee and left hand. From here push yourself up with your left hand and now with only one knee on the ground simply stand up. Remember throughout all of this your right hand is above your head with the kettlebell the entire time! Once you stand then simply reverse the entire process EXACTLY to return to the floor!

2. Single-Arm Swing: Ok the one-arm turkish get-up is essentially a big "push" so now I'm going to talk about a big "pull." To perform the single-arm swing simply start by standing with your feet about shoulder width distance apart. The bell should be directly between your feet. Reach down and pick up the bell. You should be standing completely straight. Next, you will want to execute the hip snap in order to build the momentum necessary to swing the bell back and forth between your legs. This is done by flexing and extending at your hips and knees smoothly and continuously.
Make sure that your grip is on the bell firmly with your palm and not your fingers. As you swing the bell up you will only want to bring it to your chest level. At the top of the swing your palm should be facing down and as the bell descends between your legs you will want your hand to rotate "thumbs down." Give these drills a try and watch your strength and fitness program grow into the perfect hard-body construction project!
