Training Body Movements - The Ultimate Secret For Big Gains in Fitness and Strength!

Dolphlungren by Karate KyokushinSquat jumps by Petranek Fitness - CrossFit LA, Rancho Park

The human body is the most dynamic machine on the entire planet. We have the potential of being the total package by possessing both mental and physical dominance that propels us straight to the top of the food chain. I know there are a lot of you out there wondering how some people can even be within the top 100 of all species in the food chain, but that is for another article! You basically understand what I am saying. To gain top prize in the world of what I like to refer to as the "Strength Culture," you have to know how to train and mold your body. This means you have to have a knowledge of what is most efficient.

The main problem I see in people today is that there is not enough "open minds" when it comes to exercise and strength training. Most people in health clubs and training studios want to work on training particular body-parts. This is a common thought process when it comes to fitness because of the impact of the bodybuilding culture and its influence on the health club industry. My logic is very different. I have to refer back to the first sentence I stated in this article. The human body is the most dynamic machine on the entire planet! That word DYNAMIC has an interesting meaning. It means motion, continuous change, progress, and vigor. Since I personally feel this describes the human body I believe these very characteristics should describe our fitness and strength programs. In other words, don't be so focused on training body-parts, but instead focus on training body movements. The ability to move and do work is the essence of what I like to refer to as the "Strength Culture!"

Just remember to continue to learn and grow. Get the most from your fat-loss, weight-loss, or exercise program. Be dynamic in your journey.

Being Enthusiastic About Your Training Breeds Big Results!

First, ask yourself the following loaded question. Am I truly motivated to workout, exercise, to get fit, to truly achieve the results that I desire or am I just considering my wants to be dreams and nothing more? If you know the answer is YES, then you are half way there. If your answer is No then you no longer have to continue reading this article.

I want to point out the importance of enthusiasm. First of all, even if you are part of the YES group you still have to find ways to keep motivated. Even I have to work on staying motivated to keep myself in tip top shape and I am a professional. If I struggle with it day to day then I know without a doubt that amateurs toying with the idea of getting into shape are really struggling. So here is where I think enthusiasm is so important. You may know by now that I am a huge fan of the kettlebells.

I truly enjoy the challenge of the device and the whole aura it presents to one who is motivated by such a thing like myself. This is what gets me excited to throw around that odd looking tool of fitness torture! You may be excited in other ways. You may enjoy speed and being outdoors so something like cycling, surfing, or skiing may better suit your taste. Whatever it is get enthusiastic and stay enthusiastic about your fitness and strength program. Variety is always a good thing.

Remember that you have to be self-motivated to succeed. In order to keep this motivation you have to find ways to get yourself excited about participating in whatever it is that you are doing. Work toward something!

Kettlebells For Hikers - A Great Way For the Avid Hiker to Include the Bell in Their Trek

If you want to step up your hiking ability to the point that you will eventually be able to complete walking through the Appalachian Trail then all you need are 4 things. Get yourself a watch (or timer), a sturdy and durable backpack, and 2 8kg kettlebells (17.6lbs each). Now all you need is a formidable hiking trail. Ok, maybe with the trail its technically 5 things.

To begin, simply find a hiking trail that has some steep terrain, but not so rough. Make sure there are hills, because this will intensify your trek. Next, stick the bells inside of your backpack and take off for your walk. Try to walk at a steady pace more so than your usual trekking pace. Now you want to use your watch or timer to notify you of specific intervals. You can set the timer to go off at the desired time because when it does you are going to stop and drop the backpack and take out the kettlebells to execute a kettlebell lift. It doesn't matter what lift you do, just choose a random lift at the end of every timed interval. Just make sure that the ground is somewhat level enough to perform the desired lift of choice when its time. The point of this training is to add stress to your journey by including the extra weight of the bells for you to haul around. Its also a great way to make you much more resilient as a hiker for those future adventures!

Give this a try and both your hiking and kettlbell training will transform completely!

Am I Kettlebell Material?

One of the common questions that I get on a day to day basis is; "Am I kettlebell material?" This is a good question and for all of you wondering I am going to provide a logical answer. The answer is a definite YES, as long as, you fall under a certain amount of criteria that I will lay before you in this article.

First of all, you must be open to changing your mindset from a bodybuilding one to a fitness and performance mindset. This is what is involved when training with kettlebells. This type of workout is a very intense style of training which integrates many muscles at once in order to promote significant fat-loss and terrific total-body performance. You must also have patience and be willing to listen attentively and learn new techniques that actually include you having to have an understanding of your own body. This is what makes you better than anyone else in terms of being fit when using the bell rather than using just about any other piece of equipment or training tactic.

You must also be willing to practice the same techniques sometimes over and over to get the correct pattern to ensure the execution of a proper lift. This will improve your form and reduce the risk of you injuring yourself. If you are considering kettlebells and you really want to make the leap then tell yourself that you are kettlebell material, as long as, you are willing to follow the criteria that I have outlined for you here.

Remember to practice flawlessly and often my friends. To be the best you have to put in the time!

Weight Loss - Is There an Easy Way to Lose Weight and Get Fit?

Ok, I'm just going to come right out and say it again people. Weight-loss and fitness ARE NOT things you can BUY! They are things you have to EARN! The truth is that there is no easy way to lose weight and get a fit hard body. You have to put the necessary time in to get the necessary results in weight-loss, fitness, and strength!

I am sick and tired of hearing people whine and complain about not losing weight, yet they don't train their bodys' to lose weight. They don't eat the right foods to lose weight. So they go and buy some "magic pill" to help them with their weight problem. More times than not the pill may help them shed a couple of pounds, but the catch is that they are not good for your health and generally when they run out of their supply they end up gaining all of the weight back. These people are lazy. They can't even commit to taking the stupid pill long enough to get the results, but the truth is they shouldn't be taking the stupid pill to begin with. Get off of your lazy butt and move around. Move around a lot. Move around often. After you get in the groove of moving then move around while dragging a weight. Just do something! Stop wasting your time, health, and abusing the healthcare system for people like me and my clients who want to be intrinsically motivated fitness enthusiast. You have a choice. You can either choose to improve yourself or choose not to improve yourself. There is no grey area.

I am used to going off on people and if you are reading this article and know what kind of people I am talking about then please go off on them too! If you are not sure whether you should express an opinion like mine with the person you know then I want you to ask yourself a simple question: Would that person benefit from you NOT saying anything to them? Think about it!

The Purpose of Your Fitness - An Insight Into the Purpose of Pushing Yourself to the Limit?

What if I told you that you could develop the most magnificent physique that you could ever want? Before I justify the answer to this question I want to ask you some other questions first. I want you to imagine times in your life that were difficult and I want you to remember how you got through those hard times. Do you remember what emotions and thoughts were going through your head at that particular time. Did you learn and grow from the experience?

I remember when I worked as an assistant at the University of Georgia coach Mark Richt once said something that stuck in my mind. He was speaking to players at the beginning of practice one week before a big game. He said "Men, adversity doesn't build one's character, it reveals it!" This is so true in every aspect of life. This is the answer to the question about developing a killer physique. If you have had to face adversity or pressures in life that you have had to overcome then succeeding in a fitness, strength, or general exercise program shouldn't be any different. This is why it is so important to push and drive yourself to the limit. If you do this then your body will respond with enormous results! You can grow both mentally and physically from that important trait of intrinsic motivation.

So ultimately you can develop the tremendous hard-body physique and the health to match if you really want it. Just remember the truth that there is no quick fix. There is only your hard-nosed push and discipline. The benefit from this mental attitude is why it is important and is also the reason it makes sense!

The Way You Should Train - The Key is to Focus on Training Movements and Not Isolating Muscles!

Are you confused about what exercises to do in terms of working out and learning what is effective? The truth is that our bodies are designed to do work. We physiologically consists of a bunch of levers and pulleys that come in the form of ligaments, tendons, bones, and muscles. All of the parts work together in the dynamic spectrum of movement to do work! Your body is the most fascinating and amazing machine on the entire planet.

So when it comes to our strength and fitness training program, I always reference the true nature of the function of our bodies to prospecting clients and ignorant people. The key is to forget about doing arm curls and leg extensions. We never execute those isolated type movements in normal everyday life in the first place, so why should we now? To build a top-notch hard body we should be concerned about "doing work" related movements! Day to day activities consist of us having to squat to pick up objects to move them. Usually we have to squat, bend, and move in ways that are challenging, yet natural to the relative operation of our bodies. This is how you should structure your personal fitness and strength program. We should always concentrate on training "movements" rather than training "isolated muscle groups." Remember to just simply include the two basic human movements in your fitness and strength program. The two movements that I am referring to are the push and pull combinations. I have written quite a few articles that are based around training these specific types of movements, and it works.

Take the time to learn and be creative with your personal program. Remember to focus on the training movements rather than trying to isolate body parts.

The Fat Burn in Your Back Yard! 2 Fat Burning Exercises That You Can Do Right in Your Back Yard

Arnold Schwarzenegger Big Muscles Bodybuilder Movie Star California Governator M1T by Tall FoolIt is getting late..... by Ian =D

Do you remember when you were a kid or teenager and could eat everything under the sun and not gain an inch on your waist? This is not necessarily the case when you get older. The metabolism naturally slows a little over time, but slows even less in fitter people. The only thing that can jump start it again is to get your heart pumping and pumping hard! Here are 2 exercises you can perform in your back yard to kick your metabolism back into high gear.

1. Lateral Rope Bounds: To do this all you need to do is pay a little visit to either your garage or local hardware store. You need to find a rope or cord that extends to a full length of about 50 feet. Now it doesn't have to be a rope large in diameter because that would get expensive. It can be one that is cheap, but it has to be loose enough to extend in a straight line. Next, go to your back yard and lay the rope down in a straight line on level ground. You are setting it up as a marker to execute the lateral rope bounds. From here you want to stand at one end of the rope and to one side of it. Then all you have to do is jump laterally over to the other side of the rope and as soon as you touch the ground come back to the side you started on. You are jumping in a continuous motion back and forth the full distance of the rope all the way to the opposite end.

2. Mountain Climbers: If you have kids that are involved in being physically active or athletics you may or may not know what mountain climbers are. Either way you are about to learn. All you do is get into an upright push-up position with one leg flexed with your knee up at your chest. The other leg should be extended back behind you. You should look as if you are in a sprinter's stance. From here you simply extend the bent leg that is at your chest to behind you simultaneously bringing the leg that was behind you up to your chest where the other leg was. You should execute this motion in a continuous fashion without slowing down. This is sure to get your heart pumping and your metabolism burning fat quicker than probably any fitness program you have ever tried.

The Endurance Athlete's Formula For Success!

ATHLETE Movie Production Photos - Final Stills by ATHLETE Director DaveATHLETE Movie Production Photos - Final Stills by ATHLETE Director Dave

To start, I want to make my point clear when it comes to human performance. I have mentioned in previous articles of mine the fact that you should think of fitness as a broad spectrum of many traits. For instance, total fitness or even athletic fitness consist of many variables that range from endurance, strength, flexibility, stamina, recovery, resiliency, and overall performance. Now certainly there are events like those that you endurance athletes compete in that consist of you having to have a significant amount of the trait of endurance! This is true, however, I have found that a lot of endurance athletes overemphasize their training by ONLY practicing their specific event in order to condition themselves for the actual event.

This general mindset basically stems from the fact that the athlete believes his or her performance will be compromised if they attempt to include any other variance of training into their personal program. This is a false belief. The fact is that if you are a marathon runner you know that you cannot condition your body by only practicing running a marathon, as your training, before you run your actual marathon event. This would be impossible and unproductive. Once again, fitness consist of a broad spectrum of traits that you must try to improve on in order to have a successfully fit and fine-tuned body. The athlete should work on developing and implementing a proper strength and conditioning program that will help to optimize all of the variables of fitness with slightly more emphasis placed on building endurance. The key here though is to not think that even more time should be spent on the other variables in addition to the miles you are running or cycling. As a matter of fact, you don't have to spend as much time running, if you are a marathon runner, as you think you do. A well planned and competent strength and conditioning program will help you to develop an exceptionally high level of performance when race day comes! There have been many studies done on this and many winners to show for it. The proof is in the pudding!

So when it comes to your endurance training think about every trait of your performance. Every trait across the fitness spectrum should be improved. You will get a tremendous amount of cardiovascular conditioning from both your actual even practice time, as well as, your strength and conditioning sessions!
