Body-Fat Destruction - Find Some Outdoor Space and Give This Workout a Try!

Strength by jackdog2508Elaine Young by hbhealthylife

To start, I hope you don't mind training outdoors. This program will require a bit of space and at least 50 yards of straight flat terrain. Any flat grassy outdoor space will work. You would be good to find a high-school football field, local park, or if your back yard is big enough then you don't have to go anywhere my friend!

Put on a good pair of running shoes and get ready to get sweaty and miserable! Mark off a 50 yard distance as the ground that you will be covering. The next step that you will take will be to execute a different exercise every 10 yards progressing all the way to the end of the 50 yard marker. This is where you have to get a little creative. Remember that every 10 yards you have to change the exercise you are doing. Don't be afraid to mix it up.

For instance, you can start out doing bear crawls and then pop-up and transition into the next 10 yards doing high knee runs. You can see how quickly the pattern starts to get challenging. Even if you can't get creative enough to change every 10 yard mark then feel free to alternate the 2 exercises that I have mentioned in this article. This is a hard-hitting training regimen that will help you to develop some serious endurance, to lose serious body-fat, and to get your body's metabolism running in high gear like a big diesel Ford Truck pulling some wide load down the freeway.

Always be willing to learn and to be creative with your training. If you run out of creativity and become stagnant then so will your fitness training program.

Plyometrics - Jumping Your Way Into Getting in Shape!

How many times have you been to the park or maybe watched your kids playing in the yard or at the playground? If you observe carefully they do a lot of running and jumping around. They are also getting a heck of a lot of exercise.

That jumping around and stop and go method of just being physically active is a great way to get into shape. The jumping and short burst running are also mild forms of what we recognize in the fitness industry as plyometrics. Plyometrics are specific exercises that involve quick burst of intense movements that stimulate the nervous system causing muscles to be conditioned in order to develop for more explosive and forceful contractions. This type of training is particularly used to work with helping athletes to develop more athletic and explosive movements. There are many variations of plyometrics and a beginner should always start with the most basic and lower intense plyometric-type drills. A great start is to master handling your own weight in order to jump. From here specific drills can be manipulated to progress into harder drills. For instance, you may just start by doing squat jumps and progress to jumping off of one leg and landing on 2 feet. From here you might just work on jumping and landing on just one foot! The end result is that you will end up getting a great workout.

Remember that milder forms of this can be performed by kids in a playground. You always want to make sure that you are intelligent and informed about how you structure your plyometric drills. Learn and practice flawlessly.

Aerobic Progression - How a Beginner Can Go From Walking to Running!

Everybody talks about starting up a workout and exercise program, but most beginners don't even know where to start? If you absolutely have no clue the easiest thing to remember is that doing something is always better than doing nothing!

In all of my years of training people I have come to discover that many of them kickoff their exercise programs much in the same way. A lot of people that just start out end up taking a nice stroll around the block or at the local park. This is a great way to begin. However, the question of where to go next is always the following concern for many. For the sake of this article I'm not going to discuss the resistance training element, but the same questions arise there also. So if you decide to take a nice evening walk and can only make it halfway around the block today this can be your measuring stick.

In other words, today you made it half the distance so next week shoot for completing the whole distance. Eventually walking 2 or 3 times around the block might get a bit time consuming so the next step to progression is to ease into a light jog. You may not be able to complete the same distance that you walk when progressing into the run because you have intensified your work. Intensifying your workout is always the next step. If you are walking then jogging should be the next logical step. If you are jogging then running should be the next logical step. You understand where I am going.

The point is that you get yourself going doing something. The physical benefits of exercise all seed positive results from using your body. No matter your program always ask yourself how you can intensify it and move on from there.

The Test Run!

I'm about to go try a run. Pulled my calf muscle running last week and spent the whole weekend trying to nurse it back to health! Won't know until I go. Just my second week into running. Haven't ran in over a year until 2 weeks ago. Almost clocked a 7 1/2 minute mile until the flat tire (my calf) took me out of commission. If all of my kettlebell peeps want to pick running back up, you'll be amazed at how well the conditioning crosses over to the running! Give it a shot. Shout at you later.

Speed Training - 3 Ways to Develop Linear Speed in the Competitive Athlete!

Linear speed is a fancy way of saying "Fast." However, it is specific to running fast in a straight line. We all have wanted to be fast a one time or another and that mindset has certainly not changed in today's competing athletes. I have spent the last 8 years of my life working with athletes at all levels of competition. The two things that they all have in common is that they want to be strong and fast!

The first and most basic variable in building linear speed is making sure that your running mechanics are sound. Too many athletes have poor running form, or technique and usually end up wasting a lot of motion when they are trying to develop speed. The fastest distance between two points is a straight line and often when athletes run there arm and foot placement causes them to shift from side to side when accelerating into a sprint. This is the first and most basic principle in building speed and can be quickly improved.

The next step is by loading the athlete in order to create resistance for resistance speed training. The athlete can be resisted in a number of ways ranging from a bungee chord device, weighted vest, or resistance rope. This resistance adds additional stress to the athlete's body causing his or her muscles to adapt and contract more forcefully due to being trained in this fashion.

Finally, the last method I want to discuss is assisted speed training. Some examples of this can include running with the assistance of a bungee chord device, an over-stride trainer device, or by running on a slight down hill slope. This causes the athlete to run at a faster pace than he or she is capable. By doing this the athlete takes longer quicker strides than normal. This in turn stimulates the nervous system causing the muscles to contract in rapid succession.

These three steps should be carefully studied before applying if you attempt them on your own. I will say that these examples are pretty basic in nature, but that with proper instruction and application your linear speed will drastically improve! In other words, "You'll get Faster!"
