Five Steps to Take in Order to Guarantee Weight-Loss!

I have included in this article 5 steps that you can take in order to guarantee your success in losing weight. If you are not accustomed to being active and living a healthy lifestyle then this article should be very valuable to you.

Step 1: Get off the couch: If you want to start losing weight you must become physically active. With this particular step don't worry about workout structure and equipment just get up and move around. Walk around your living room, around your house, or around the block if you can. This is much more productive than sitting on the couch doing nothing drowning in sea of cheetos.

Step 2: Trade those cheetos for an apple: Start making better nutritional choices. Put down the bag of cheetos and eat an apple instead. Instead of polishing off that bottle of coke drink a tall glass of ice water. Simple choices like this will drastically improve your weight-loss progress. To lose the fat you must eat healthier.

Step 3: Pick up something and move it: Once you get into the habit of actually moving around then you can start implementing very basic forms of resistance training. An easy way to start is to throw yourself into doing something productive such as yard or house work. Very basic methods of strength training can be accomplished by moving a wheel barrel or carrying bags of fertilizer across the yard. It doesn't have to be fancy to be effective.

Step 4: Join a fitness group: Studies have shown that people enjoy participating in group activities in a lot of cases, especially when it comes to exercise. If you are sweating and in pain next to a friend that is going through the same thing you are less likely to give up. Find a friend or friends to join in some sort of physical activity.

Step 5: Make progress: In order to be successful in any weight-loss, fat-loss, or exercise program you must grow and learn more effective methods to continue making progress. Don't just keep doing the same things. Remember that once you have made the decision to train your body with a purpose then you must have a purpose! Don't just go through the motions get better. Whether you are working on your cardiovascular training, strength, or overall fitness you only get out of it what you put into it. That's life my friends!

Athletic Fitness - 3 Ways to Construct an Athletically Fit and Functional Body!

Athletic Practice by ammersmifJenny in Red classic pose by BdK Fotografie Shoots

I had a friend the other day that was just starting back into working out and he asked me "what is the best thing for me to do to get back into shape?" He is an ex-athlete like myself and I asked him if he remembered how hard his workouts were in college. He, of course, said yes and I proceeded to tell him that he needs to start training like an athlete again. Why, he asked? I followed up by asking him at what point in his life was he in the greatest shape and he replied "when I was doing preseason workouts for football in college." I rest my case. Most of the time people don't want to revert to doing what they used to because they have forgotten how, they are lazy, or maybe they have never had an effective training regimen in their life.

Step 1: The first step in building the ultimate Greek-god or goddess-like body is to implement Olympic Lifting into your strength training program. The three main lifts that people are familiar with in Olympic lifting are the snatch, clean, and jerk. All three lifts are incredible in developing explosive power, strength, and animal-like resiliency. By including these lifts and variations of them into your strength program you will find that you will get a much quicker workout because of the intensity of the lifts. Also, these lifts can be structured into your workouts as a primary lift which can be readily combined with the remaining lift and workout strategies I will explain in Steps 2 and 3.

Step 2: The second step in your journey for elite fitness status involves the inclusion of Kettlebells. Yes, kettlebells are a tremendous way to supplement your Olympic Lifts that you might execute with barbells and bumper plates, but with kettlebells, certain Olympic lifts can be executed as well. Because of its shape and size many different lifts with different objectives can be executed readily with the bell. This allows you to bypass a normal training obstacle that occurs frequently with other free weights like having to slow down to change around weights, racking plates, and having to move to a different area for another lift. In other words, there is no interruption of your workout, therefore your intensity level stays in HIGH GEAR! The bell can be used for heavy explosive type lifts, conditioning-oriented lifts, and slower lifts that create tremendous muscular tension! All are effective for constructing your body and getting to Greek-god status.

Step 3: The third step in getting ridiculously quick results in your program is making sure to add in Plyometrics. Plyometrics involve completing intense quick explosive movements that stretch and shorten the muscles rapidly. They stimulate the nervous system causing the muscles to react quicker so athletic movements like sprinting, jumping, and agility can be effectively executed. This is also a great way to gain tremendous conditioning and to reduce the risk of injury by stressing the body in this manner.

Remember that none of these three steps should be included into your program unless you are 100% confident in your technique. Don't be a knucklehead and do something that would injure you and put you out of commission. However, you should take the time to study, research, and flawlessly practice these steps. Once you do your INSANE BODY CONSTRUCTION PROJECT will be completed way before anyone else's deadline!

Developing Upper Body Strength in the Paraplegic Athlete!

Racing Chair #2 by banegool

If you are a paraplegic looking to develop upper-body strength and power then listen up. Its time for you to kick your training into high gear. If you are looking to develop upper body strength and power then you have to train just like any other athlete, only harder! The fact is that irregardless of your personal capability, if you have the full use of your arms, chest, and upper body you can gain supreme power.

If you have read my other material then you know that the very essence of strength comes from the practice of muscular tension. Tension equals force and force is strength! To do this you have to work on two very distinct type of movements. The first type involves more strength endurance related movements. This is where you execute a single task over and over for total volume. A good example of this may be something like traditional chest presses, shoulder presses, and medicine ball throws.

The second type of movement is what is referred to as slow tension or grinding. This is where you don't concern yourself with repetitions, but rather the exertion and tension of the movement. An example of this would be something like pressing a dumbell or kettlebell overhead and simply holding it for time. Once again tension equals force. If you have a competent training program you will force your body to innervate more neuromuscular activity, therefore creating a superior level of strength.

This is the key to any successful strength and fitness program. If you don't believe in building strength then you aren't training! Train hard my friend and give it a try.

Three Steps to Take to Pack on Muscle!

Hustler Morph by Ball Gut Photo Guy5 by s.rajeshkannan

There is more than one way to skin a cat, right? Well, I would say this statement is true most of the time. However, when it comes down to you packing on lean muscle mass you have to know what to do to your body in order for your body to know what to give back to you. You see when it comes to strength training your body will give back to you what you put into it. Its just like anything else in life, whether you are putting your energy into a business, a family, or anything else you know that most of the time you will get out exactly what you put in! For packing on muscular size and upgrading your fitness check out the following 3 steps to help you get on the right track!

1. Nutrition: This is the most important phase in this 3 step plan. You must take in enough calories and protein to repair worked muscles. Now having said that, you must take in the right calories. You should reduce, but not eliminate complex carbs. These are foods that are loaded with carbs. Examples include, but are not limited to things such as breads, pastas, and potatoes. The key to packing on the muscle though is to make sure your protein intake is sufficient. The National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) recommends that you should take in 1.5 to 2.0 grams of protein per kilogram of body-weight for a "very active" individual. If you are properly managing your protein intake you will quickly see your results come to life.

2. Your Lifting Program: This is the "nuts and bolts" of your attempt for muscular power. Your weightlifting or kettlebell training programs should be structured to pack on lean muscle mass. Now here is the key to building big strong muscles. You must incorporate intense multi-joint compound movements. Lifts such as heavy squats, deadlifts, cleans, and big bell swings will help you to put on a tremendous amount of lean muscle mass. Weightlifting should be a continuous adventure of getting stronger. When you PROPERLY train your body in this fashion you stimulate your nervous system and this is the key to muscular strength, size, and power. The more muscle you have the more work you can do, therefore you lead yourself to packing on more muscle! It's a continuous cycle. When stimulating your nervous system with these types of lifts your body releases an array of hormones into your bloodstream such as growth hormone and testosterone levels get boosted as well.

3. Cardiovascular Program: This is also a key element in packing on lean muscle. Yes, this can be done without compromising muscular size and strength. Now my approach is a bit different. Don't confuse cardio with only being aerobic. The type of cardio I'm talking about is anaerobic training. The term anaerobic means "without oxygen" and consist of movements that consist of short burst of intense exercise. Instead of jogging, try sprinting. Weightlifting is also a version of anaerobic activity, and if properly designed you can obtain more than enough cardiovascular fitness through it. This is why I am such a fan of the kettlebell, because you are achieving both elements of strength training and conditioning with this awesome tool. Give it a try!
