The Get Up - A Single Kettlebell Exercise With Monumental Benefits!

Kettlebells are no doubt a strength and conditioning device starting to make a lot of noise here in the U.S. within the fitness industry. The fact is that kettlebell training is an art form, as far as, physical conditioning and development is concerned. You see the difference between kettlebell training and other forms of strength training is that it is "movement based" and not "body part specific." This is why kettlebell training is so different from the most recognized norm in the world of fitness.

One particular lift that is performed with the kettlebell that is tremendous in helping you to obtain overall superior strength and assist in the mobility of your shoulders is the single arm get up (or turkish get up). This particular kettlebell lift involves you starting out on your back holding the kettlebell above your head, but always at an angle with your arm perpendicular to the ground.
Ultimately the objective is to stand all the way up to your feet and return to the ground while maintaining the load of the bell above your head and with your arm at the perpendicular angle to the ground. To do this you must always think SAFETY first! Use common sense and have 110% confidence in your get up lifting ability before attempting this. As you lay on the ground lift the bell up in one arm using both hands. This is important again for safety. As you start up you want to start tightening your abs and core to roll your body onto your side.

As you do this maintain the vertical perpendicular angle of the bell. "Spear Head" the bell with your arm by pointing in the direction of the ceiling and keeping your lat tense throughout the lift. As you roll onto your side simply roll onto your elbow of the arm that is on the ground. From here work on transitioning your weight to the hand of the arm on the ground. As you are doing this the leg opposite of your free arm (arm on the ground) should assist in the pushing and shifting of your body weight.

Once your weight is distributed to the arm of the free hand from here you simply "get up." There are many ways to get up at this point, but how you choose to do so is your business. Just make sure that you are comfortable in which way you choose. Once you stand then simply reverse the process entirely to return to the ground.

By implementing this kettlebell exercise into your workout routine you are stepping up your training by a few notches! Take the time to learn more about kettlebell lifts and this ancient art form. By doing so your workout routines will never be the same. I will even make it easier for you by asking you to access the rest of my articles on the matter for free. Kettlebell Training - The Most Dynamic and Highly Effective Way to Train Your Body!

Kettlebell workouts are some of the most dynamic and effective ways to train your body. I often get the question: Why is this device and ancient form of training so special? Well, basically kettlebell training is effective for a couple of reasons. The first reason is in the device's design and the second is in the way you train with it to tame it's awkwardness.

You see kettlebells are unique firstly because of how they are designed. The kettlebell basically resembles a cannonball with a handle attached to it. This makes it challenging to even hold at a properly racked clean position at your chest. Just by statically holding the bell you will quickly realize that it is constantly trying to pull away from your body. This "pulling away" causes your body to have to counter-react to this force, thereby making you stronger.

This leads us in to the way you must train with the bell in order to tame it. Kettlebell exercises are very dynamic in nature. In other words, when working out with the kettlebell the training is "movement specific" and not "body part specific." This is what people that have never trained with the tool don't understand. Plus the way that the sphere of the kettlebell is extended away from the handle readily makes it more effective for you to execute the base lifts with it such as swings, cleans, snatches, jerks, and one arm turkish get ups. This is where you drastically benefit with this style of training more than attempting to do the same things with dumbells. You will quickly see just how effective kettlebell training is for fat loss and serious muscle gain once you start engaging in these very dynamic movements.

If you are wanting to learn about the most effective way to train your body for strength, power, fitness, fat loss, and superior athletic performance then you have got to include kettlebell training into your personal program. Remember that anyone can train hard, but only the best train smart!

Kettlebell Fitness - 2 Exercises For You to Implement For Excellent Fitness!

23.365 Jen Morris by fizzbucketCIMG5815 by alizinha/CrossFitNYC

I would like to say that if you have the availability of a couple of kettlebells and you enjoy training with this ancient device then this is a great couple of drills for you to implement into your program. To promote weight-loss, fat-loss, and superior cardiovascular conditioning you have to increase your level of perceived exertion. The kettlebell is one of the best tools for doing just that! Read and enjoy.

1. Swing/Deadlift Combo: This drill actually consist of a couple of different exercises that utilize a couple of kettlebells. To start this drill you will want a couple of bells of moderate and equal weight. Start by setting the kettlebells between your feet. From here you will just simply want to execute a series of swings with both kettlebells (one in each hand). For the purpose of this article shoot for 20 swings. Immediately after the swings place the bells back on the ground between your feet and execute 20 deadlifts (or squats) by picking the bells up off of the ground and locking your hips and knees out, and then placing them back on the ground.

2. Clean, Squat, and Press: This lift is pretty well described in the name. Simply begin by placing the bells between your feet. Squat down and grab both bells and perform a duel clean. The bells should be resting at your chest. From here simply keep the bells in front and perform a squat. Once you lock out a full squat then press both bells above the head. After all three movements place the bells on the ground between your feet and repeat the process. This is tremendous for building your core strength and getting you total cardiovascular conditioning!

What Kettlebell Training Does For Your Body is Worth the Investment!

Kettlebell training has been around for centuries. The reason that you may not have heard of it though is because it originated in Russia and was really more prevalent among strong men and olympic athletes in that region. The good news is that they are making there way here to the U.S. and spreading like wildfire across the globe. I have implemented this style of training among all of my clientele which ranges from athletes to regular fitness enthusiast ranging in ages from 13 years of age to 60+years old!

So what does this odd device and ancient form of training do for the body? Well, the better question is what does it not do? You see every hope of success in training the human body to be fit and strong requires the act of muscular tension. This tension can be applied through the resistance of your own body-weight or by adding an additional load or weight such as a kettlebell. The beauty of training with the bell is that the style of training that is associated with this device incorporates hundreds of muscles at once with the use of simple and natural body movements!

This in turn results in your body eliminating the unwanted fat while promoting superior weight-loss and helping you to build lean muscle mass. This also drastically improves what I like to call your interior numbers that have to do with your blood pressure, cholesterol, and resting heart rate. Kettlebells also forge your body into being tough and resilient so you can bounce back, recover quicker from an intense workout, and also are more able to withstand a hit or impact! To me this taps into what are bodies are really all about.

If you are considering starting with kettlebells then consider no longer, get started now! All you have to lose is time by waiting around thinking about it. Start now and get the benefits!

The Walk of Pain - 2 Walking Exercises With the Kettlebell That Cause Pain and Big Gains!

30062007(015) by gsfinland

To start, you need a couple of bells and a little experience in handling the weight. This "Walk of Pain" involves 2 different exercises that basically involve walking with the iron bell. Both will allow you to develop core stability, balance, and strength all from a loaded walk.

1. Overhead Press and Walk: This exercise is much harder than you would think. Once again, you need a flat surface that is about 30 yards in length. You want to basically clean and press the kettlebell overhead and walk the full distance of 60 yards. The 30 yard length only counts as one way or half of the set. Clean and press to walk down and back the 30 yard distance equalling 60 yards and then switch arms to do the same thing on the other side. Make sure that you keep the elbow locked into place and suck the shoulder into the socket to secure the bell overhead. Repeat this pattern 3 times on each side to start.

2. Farmer's Walk: This is the second half of the "Walk of Pain." This is the drill that will involve both bells even though it can be executed with one bell. Using the same 30 yard flat distance of surface as before you want to squat to pick up both kettlebells. With a bell in each hand you simply just want to walk the full distance of 60 yards. This a round trip of the marked off distance. These walks will intensify your kettlebell fitness program and rocket you to new fitness heights! This redefines walking exercise.

Kettlebell Strength - 2 Lifts to Execute With Kettlebells For Great Overall Body Strength!

If you want to improve your flexibility, strength, power, and fitness then you will have to include the following 2 lifts into your kettlebell strength training program. Permit yourself a minute to read and study the following 2 lifts.

1. Clean, Squat, and Press: This particular lift is wonderful because you are implementing both the push and pull movements in the lift. To begin, you place the bell between your feet. Make sure your feet are slightly wider than shoulder width distance. Execute a squat and grab the bell with your hand (Note: for this particular exercise we are doing a single bell lift). Next perform a clean movement bringing the bell to rest at your chest level. Your arm with the bell should be at rest just outside your midline and against your torso. From here execute another squat. Upon ascending in the squat press the bell above your head. Properly lower the bell to the floor and repeat for subsequent reps. Note, the intensity of this exercise can be adjusted by adding another bell and doing 2 kettlebells or by increasing the weight.

2. Single-Arm Overhead Squat: Now this is one intense drill that you can perform to really work on building superior core strength, balance, and overall stability. Here you want to start the same way as the clean, squat, and press drill. Execute a squat to grab the bell to clean to your chest. Next, press the bell overhead. Now the next part is important. Make sure that your shoulder is locked into the socket and that you keep your elbow locked in place. This locking allows you to support a heavier load for the movement. From here you want to squat keeping the bell overhead the entire time. This drill is great for developing amazing shoulder stability, core strength, and overall fitness. This should be practiced regularly in your kettlebell training program.

1. Kettlebell Squat Jump Cycles: For this particular drill you will need a pair of kettlebells of light to moderate resistance. Make sure that you start on flat ground. Start the drill by standing with your feet about shoulder width distance apart. Hold a kettlebell in each hand at your sides. Next perform a series of continuous squats. Perform 5 repetitions of squats in continuous motion and then on the sixth one cycle into immediately doing a series of squat jumps for 5 repetitions. Once you complete the 5 jumps immediately cycle back to doing 5 squats again. Keep transitioning back and forth between these movements until you complete 30 repetitions! You will achieve a high level of both cardiovascular fitness and muscular endurance.

2. Dual Kettlebell Clean And Squats: For this drill you will need a pair of relatively heavy kettlebells of equal weight. Start by setting the bells on the ground between your feet. Make sure that your feet are slightly wider than shoulder width apart. Squat down and clean the bells to your chest. Perform deep squats for a series of 5 repetitions. Once you reach the 5th rep simply set the bells back on the ground and immediately clean them to your chest to do 5 more deep front loaded squats! Cardiovascular Horsepower!

Strength Training at the MBody Strength Kettlebell Gym by mbodystrength

If you want to develop some serious cardiovascular horsepower then you will like this workout! There is no doubt that the engine of your body is your heart. The cool thing is that in order to increase the horsepower in this engine you have to work it hard. The following workout is designed to do just that.

To start this workout you will need a few things. You will need a couple of kettlebells of moderate weight. You will also need the availability of some flat open space and a couple of markers (cones or even water bottles will do). Mark off a straight distance of 50 yards. Place a kettlebell at each end of the 50 yard running area. Start out at one end of the running path by performing 50 double-arm kettlebell swings. As soon as you finish the swings drop the bell and sprint the 50 yards to the other side. Recover for a minute and a half and pick up the kettlebell at this end and repeat the same thing. Once you finish with completing a round trip (100 swings and 100 yards of sprinting) start the process over, but the second time around change up the style of kettlebell lift. For instance, maybe perform 50 overhead snatches (25 each arm) with the bell before sprinting to the other side. The goal is to perform 3 round trips with 3 different kettlebell drills before each round trip (or set of 100 yard sprints). This is some serious cardiovascular fitness my friends.

If you incorporate this little workout into your routine then I guarantee your cardiovascular fitness and endurance will drastically improve! Kettlebell training will definitely help you to develop some serious cardiovascular horsepower!

The Kettlebell - The Jekyll and Hyde of Fitness!

Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde by skookumsKettlebells by robinslomkowski

I want to talk about an ancient formula for strength, fitness, and total-body transformation that can change who you are completely. This ancient formula of strength starts with an ancient tool that seems like something of an evil nature when you are trying to endure the torture of it. This ancient device that I am talking about is the kettlebell.

If you have never flirted with a workout formula like that of kettlebell training then you are certainly missing out on a transformation that is similar to a total change and difference like that of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde! Now you are probably wondering, what do you mean Brandon? Well, picture your current strength and exercise program the way it is now. Now I want you to imagine being able to do things that you never thought possible before! This change from where you are is what I like to compare to the Dr. Jekyll phase.

From here if you take in and consume the evil workout of the kettlebell then you will quickly transform your mind, body, and total physical makeup as drastically as Dr. Jekyll transforms to Mr. Hyde. No worries, I'm not saying your going to turn evil, but the physical torture and total-body workout with the kettlebell can certainly feel like one evil experience. The beauty though is that there is no ugliness or disappointing side effect. The only symptoms from this formula is total addiction with total satisfaction!

Take your cardiovascular fitness and strength program somewhere different. Get in touch with your Mr. Hyde and train with kettlebells!

The Kettlebell - What is So Special About This Ancient Tool For Strength?

Kettlebells/Virginia Acosta/Control Pilates by Control Pilatesfebruary 1st - kettlebells(32-365) by strange little woman on streamIKFF1 by swatfitness
What is the kettlebell? This is a common question that I get on a day to day basis concerning this unique device of physical torture. I say it is a device of physical torture, but the fact is that the torture it puts you through results in tremendous physical gains! So going back to the question. The kettlebell is a strength and conditioning device that basically resembles a cannonball with a handle attached to it. Its a relatively simple design for such a highly effective strength and conditioning tool.

The kettlebell's historical origins are believed to be in Russia. The Russians have used the device to train many of their olympic athletes, law enforcement, and military personnel. As you know they have now infiltrated the states and are rapidly becoming more well known. As I have written in my movement about strength culture, the importance of physical, emotional, and spiritual betterment is a journey. The kettlebell is certainly a vehicle you can use to get you moving on that journey and moving fast! I have used the device for over a year and a half now and have retrieved and surpassed many areas of strength that I never would have thought I could achieve. The body is, after all, a kinetic chain and the kettlebell tensions that chain to make it strong throughout its entirety.

The benefits you acquire by training with this device are vast. Not only are they cosmetic and make you look great for the beach season coming up, but kettlebells improve your cardiovascular conditioning, help you to develop superior strength, resiliency, stamina, and even amazing joint integrity! Because these bells aren't as prevalent as dumbells they are generally about a dollar or so more per pound in cost. This isn't a problem though, because there is no warranty necessary for this product my friend. The gruesome bell would be the only thing left on the ground after a post apocalyptic nuclear attack! If you want to invest in an extremely versatile piece of equipment then overall I don't believe anything can compete with the iron bell!

The Kettlebell 300 Workout - An Explanation of This Gruesome Workout For the Spartans!

300 by Sleeper Cell.
If you have seen the movie then you probably saw a pretty accurate depiction of King Leonidas in terms of his fitness level. Gerard Butler no doubt went through a physical hell to get his body ready for the big screen, but the benefits were obvious to the movie goer. Since the movie there have been many people to create and use different variations of the infamous 300 workout. I want to address a version that I am partial to because of the simplicity of the concept.

The 300 workout that I am talking about teaching you is the kettlebell version. You first need to get yourself a kettlebell that will somewhat challenge you even in a moderate workout. This is important because the 300 workout will certainly challenge you in a whole new way. You basically want to come up with 10 different exercises with the kettlebell. The number 300 comes from the total number of reps that will be executed in the workout. You basically have 10 kettlebell exercises that will consist of 30 repetitions each. If you are a true Spartan you can complete this evil task in under 40 minutes. Now this is no doubt a killer program that will breed killer results. However, if you unable to complete the workout as described then you can modify it to suit your progress. A good example here would be to try 200 reps instead of the full 300. This will at least get you going in the right direction.

Kettlebell Supremacy - 2 Kettlebell Exercises to Eliminate Love Handles and Construct a Hard Butt!

I have frequently been asked about what kettlebell exercises work the best when trying to eliminate sagging unwanted body-fat? The truth is that all of the exercises are great, but I will talk about 2 that can be learned quickly and are intense enough to make up your entire kettlebell training workout!

1. The Full-Range Swing! This exercise is super intense and will burn your love handles off of your body faster than you going out and running 5 miles a day! Thats right, I said more than running. I will assume that you know what the basic kettlebell swing is and how it works. If not, feel free to look up the "Swing" in my other articles. The full range swing is basically the normal swing that is executed by taking the bell the full range of motion all the way above your head. The complete 180 degree arc of the bell swinging with constant force causes your abs to forcefully contract, your hips to burn, and shoulder girdle to tighten up enough to take your breath away. This will melt your love handles away like a stick of butter in a broiling oven.

2. The Suitcase Deadlifts-This is another lift with the bell that you can do to supplement your full-range swings to build up razor sharp hamstrings and a tight butt to match. All you have to do is stand with your feet shoulder-width distance apart. Set the kettlebell right beside one of your feet with the handle parallel to your foot. You will only be lifting the weight on one side of your body. Next just execute a proper squat and reach down beside you to pick up the bell like you would a suitcase, hence the name. Fight the sensation to lean to the loaded side. Continuously pick the bell up and set it down for the desired reps and switch sides. This lift will enhance your fat-loss and tighten up your backside unlike anything you've tried.
