Specificity of Training For Baseball!

In order to be great at the game of baseball you must be properly trained athletically in order to succeed at the sport. Notice that I didn't say that you should train in terms of sport specific, but rather train to be a better athlete. So what exactly is the difference.

In order to determine the difference in how you should train to be athletically specific to your sport lets take a look at the sport in terms of what demands need to be met within the sport itself. So what do we know about the sport of baseball? Well, it takes hand and eye coordination, speed, power, agility, and strength. This is the answer to our question. Each one of these mentioned traits are all necessary for a baseball player to be a successful player in their sport.

The specificity of training for baseball should include a strength program that consists of focusing on the development of coordination, speed, power, agility, and strength. The smart baseball player should incorporate lifting and training techniques that include the overall development of strength, power, and speed. Training such as olympic lifting and kettlebell training for baseball are extremely beneficial. This is how the athlete can make the better player.

In order for your next baseball season to be a success you must incorporate the proper specificity of training to make it happen. Take your training through the proper channels. Work to achieve the necessary athletic skills that I mentioned in this article and I promise your season will be an all-star season!

Athletic Performance For Baseball Players!

Utley's Bad Aim by @ BradMuscles by Harpo42

Being a strength and conditioning specialist and ex-athlete I understand the importance of having strength, speed, agility, and power when it comes down to playing any sport. The amazing thing to me is that I have had more argumentative disagreements with baseball coaches on training than any other coach in any other sport. The smart coaches are coming around, but there is still an "old school" mindset that looms out there with some coaches on how they train their players in athletic performance.

The thing that those "old school" coaches don't get is that bigger, faster, and stronger should be the goal in EVERY sport! The old school coaches don't understand the importance of athletic performance. They still want to constantly work on specifically "baseball skills" rather than trying to optimize there players' athleticism. Performance for baseball is just as critical as any other sport. Football players spend the better part of their summer in the weight room or on the field conditioning before they ever touch a football. The truth is that those "football skills" will come back in regular season practice.

The same thing happens with basketball these days too. Guys spend more time in the weight room and trying to sharpen their speed and agility for when the time comes for them to jump back on the court. Just about every other sport does this across the board more than baseball. I simply point out the facts. I don't make this stuff up. I'm a former baseball player so don't think I don't understand, because I do. If you are a player then don't cheat yourself. Make sure you take the time to get stronger, faster, more agile, and overall well conditioned before the season.

Its time for a change in the baseball community. If you are a parent that is paying for your kid to take cuts in the batting cage during the off-season you need to rethink your investment. I'm not saying they don't need to practice those skills, but if you really want them to improve on those skills then try to work on making them a better athlete first! That is where you will get them better. Train hard my friends!

Kettlebells - The Female Athlete's Choice For Building Speed!

Poetry in motion by unclesha.

Plain and simple ladies, the kettlebell can build your speed! The key to building speed is to challenge your body by stimulating your nervous system. This is done by performing powerful short intense lifts that cause your muscles to produce maximal force! There is no better tool for allowing you to achieve this than the kettlebell.

Kettlebells are great for working on the development of your sprinting muscles. Your core and your legs both must be strong in order for you to have a powerful sprinting foundation. The key to speed training is that you properly load your body and perform movements that are athletic and dynamic in nature to produce an optimal level of speed. Kettlebell training for women is a great way to achieve this and to also help reduce the risk of injury.

Performing the base lift known as the double-arm swing with the kettlebell is great for developing the muscles of your glutes, hamstrings, quads, and hips which are all essential in propelling your body forward in a maximal sprinting effort. Take the time to implement this ancient tool into your personal program and you will quickly see how much of an edge you will gain by developing your overall female athletic performance.

If you decide to make yourself a better athlete than all of the rest by training with kettlebells then I will even help to make it an easy task for you. All that you have to do is access all of my other articles to get all the information you need on lifts and techniques that you can perform with kettlebells. Train hard and enjoy!
