Mega Strength For the Rock Climbers - Improve Your Climbing With Kettlebell Training

Rock Climber by j_l_cliftonrock climber by 34five
If you literally want to take your climbing skills to new heights, then you need to include the kettlebell into your daily workouts. This iron ball will certainly forge your body into the fit tough machine you need it to be when hanging on for dear life on that secluded mountainside. Even if you prefer the more controlled environment of the indoor walls you will still see huge benefits from using this ancient bodybuilding device!

I am personally not a rock or mountain climber, but I am a professional when it comes to understanding the body and overall human performance. The bottom line is that when you are constantly tensing your body to hold on to a ledge and climb up a wall you have to be very fit. For starters, you need a strong grip and strong fingers. There is no better tool in the world for developing a Herculean grip than the kettlebell. You must also be very strong in your core, lats, and arms in order to maneuver around awkward ledges and jutting rocks.

The kettlebell is great at developing all of these areas on your body to give you optimal performance when it comes to improving your climbing. Well planned kettlebell training promotes the superior development of all of the necessary physical traits you need in order to turn you into a superior climbing machine. To be strong and fit you have to train that way and being a kettlebell man or woman means you are part of that very culture.

To make the big gains you need a big strength and conditioning program. The gruesome kettlebell is a tool capable of giving you both mighty strength and the conditioning to match.

There Is No Grip Like A Kettlebell Grip!

Get through it by sam&onnyChris Sharma rock climbing / deep water soloing in Mallorca, Spain. by elbartoxxxxxTeam of climbers in danger. by edouard. montfort
Lets face it! There are times where it is nice to show off your grip strength and there are times where you are just flat out thanking God that you have grip strength. Just like the guys in the pictures above! Whether you need it for weight lifting, athletics, rock climbing, or just flat out like to tear stuff up grip strength is an important factor in your fitness and total strength program. One of the best ways to increase strength in your grip is with the iron bell. Remember that to effectively train your body you are training the kinetic chain. All of your body's muscles are connected to form a chain link that starts with your grip. Kettlebell training is a definite factor in helping you to overwhelmingly improve your grip strength. If you don't believe me then make an attempt at swinging a bell like the beast!  If you don't know what that is it is the biggest manufactured kettlebell around weighing in at a mere 48kg or 106 lbs.! You certainly have to have an iron grip to complete this task. Keep training hard my friends!

Grip Strength - 2 Exercises to Give You a Herculean Grip!

The one thing that I have learned over the years in observing some of the most successful athletes and weightlifters is that they all have tremendous grip strength. I mean the kind of grip that can give them ultimate victory in any hand-shaking contest if there were any such of a thing. Below I will discuss 2 exercises that you can execute in order to achieve this kind of herculean status.

The Fingertip Push-up: This is just what it sounds like and there are a few variations of this exercise. The first is to simply get into an upright push-up position. Instead of your hands being flat you will only be bracing the weight of your body on your fingertips! From here simply execute a full push-up. Do as many as you can without going to failure. The second variation is the pop-up method. This is a bit more intense and I wouldn't attempt this until you have mastered the first method. For this one you want to start out in an upright push-up position with your hands normally braced on the floor as if you were doing a normal push-up. Next, execute the push-up and when you have fully ascended in the range of motion in one quick movement immediately pop-up onto your fingertips. From this position just as quickly pop down with your hands flat back into the start position. Repeat this process for every repetition.

The Kettlebell Bell Up Press: This particular one requires the use of some cold hard steel. The idea is pretty simple. You want to pick up the kettlebell with the bell part (round bottom portion) of the weight balanced in the up position and not against your forearm like it normally is in the holding position of the clean. There is no other part of your body touching the bell except your hand which is solidly embraced around the cold hard steel handle of the bell. From below your chin simply press the bell above your head and lower back.

You will no doubt develop a herculean grip when executing these exercises. Practice it flawlessly!
