Push-Ups With Kettlebells - 2 Push-Up Drills That You Can Use With Kettlebells!

Sharon kettlebell push up by sharon_vanderhorst

It is one thing to execute a traditional style push-up off of the ground, but its a whole other ball game to get it done off of a kettlebell! The following 2 drills are a great way to start in practicing to improve your push-up power and core strength. These challenging styles of push-ups will also drastically help you by giving you tremendous shoulder integrity.

1. The One Arm Handle Push-Up: This push-up is very challenging if you are a novice to the standard one-arm push-up, but it is a great way to develop tremendous upper body power and shoulder stability. To start, simply place the bell on the ground with the handle running longways or parallel to your body. Get into a proper one-arm upright push-up position. The trick here is to stabilize the bell so you don't lay it over on one side. Properly execute a controlled descent all the way down until your chest is even with the sphere of the bell and then push-up. This is a great way for you to develop that extra stability and power by using your kettlebell.

2. The Bell Up One Arm Push-Up: This drill is only for the advanced kettlebell man or woman. However, even explaining it to you is worth the entertainment. For this drill I would recommend doing it either in your yard or in your living room on the carpet. To begin this drill simply flip the bell upside down to where the handle is on the ground and running longways or parallel to your body. Yes, I did say flip the bell over to where the bell is up and the handle is down. From here you have to really stabilize the bell because you are balancing it off of its handle! Next, execute a single-arm push-up off of the bell while stabilizing it the entire time. You will have to already have a sufficient amount of core strength and upper-body power to pull this off, however you will also further improve your ability with this drill.

Intense Push-Ups - 2 Styles of Push-Ups That Will Change Your Body!

Push ups in a wedding dress? by *Caity*push ups by sun dazed

Push-ups can be a great exercise when one decides to use it in an exercise program. Most of us tend to stick to the weight training when it comes to getting our resistance training. There is certainly nothing wrong with lifting weights, but I do think there is an overwhelming number of people who don't properly learn how to utilize their own body-weight first before moving on to adding that additional load. Check out these 2 types of push-ups that are sure to challenge you as much as any weight.

1. Rotational Push-Ups: This is a funny name for a style of push-up, but I promise you won't be laughing while you are doing them my friend. To start this push up variation get into the normal upright push-up position. Make sure your feet are about shoulder width distance apart. Next, execute a standard push-up. You will descend to the ground and ascend back up to the upright position. Once you ascend to the upright position lift one arm off of the ground and rotate your body (at the torso) around and point the finger of the hand you lift to the ceiling. Your body should maintain a straight line as you turn to look upward. Once you have rotated up then simply rotate back place your hand on the ground to execute a push-up and rotate again on the opposite side. Attempt to do 10 of these on each side and try to tell me it is easy!

2. Plyometric Push-Ups: This is a fun and intense plyometric exercise to perform and is also a fantastic chest workout. The technique is just like a normal push-up with one difference. When you ascend in the push-up movement you will want to forcefully push yourself up hard enough for your hands to elevate off of the ground. You want to execute these all in succession for optimal strength gains. You will develop tremendous upper-body explosiveness and overall core strength from this movement.

Push-Ups - These 2 Variations Will Get You Bigger Gains Much Quicker Than the Traditional Style!

Push Ups by chateauglenunga (Harvey)

What is the number one rule of strength training? Well, everyone may have different rules, but mine is that you have to intensify what you are doing to always get the results you want. So if you get good at doing something then you have to somehow intensify whatever it is that you are doing in order to make the big gains! Take a look at how you can intensify doing push-ups with these 2 nasty drills.

1. Elevated leg or one-leg push-ups: This variation will quickly add intensity to your push-ups and increase your push up strength. To execute this particular drill you only have to make one simple adjustment. All you have to do is get into a normal upright push-up position. Next, just lift one of your legs off of the floor. Don't cross it over the foot that is still in contact with the floor. Just simply lift it! Execute the desired number of push-ups and then switch legs to do the other side. You will develop much more core and upper-body strength by changing this one aspect of your push-ups.

2. Elevate both legs: This drill is even harder than the first one I talked about. With this drill you will need a little help. All you have to do is find a sturdy elevated flat surface. Something like a chair, bench, or step will do. From here all you need to do is to get into the upright push-up position. Once in position place both feet onto the elevated surface of your choice. Your body is still in the normal upright position with both of your feet elevated. Now much more of your total body weight is distributed to your upper-body immediately intensifying the drill. You will love these! Practice and if you want to make them harder simply continue to elevate your feet.
