The Sickest Cardio Workout on the Planet!

Blue Marble (Planet Earth) by woodleywonderworks

So what is the sickest cardio workout on the planet? What is it for? Well, I'll start by telling you what it is not. It isn't for the weak minded, the uncommitted, the excuse makers, or the so-called "know it all" that thinks 9 sets of bicep curls is going to get you a fit body. It IS for those that want to make a change, will try something new, and don't mind failing. That's right, I said failing! I said failing because at first you might not be able to finish this workout. The sickest cardio workout on the planet is also the best cardio workout in my opinion and it involves kettlebell training.

As you may know by now kettlebell training is an ancient art form that has been around for a long time. This ancient device is tremendous in helping you to forge a rock hard body with the cardiovascular conditioning of a race horse. The specific high intensity cardiovascular workout that I am referring to is the double arm overhead swing for time.

The base lift of the kettlebell is the double arm swing. This lift normally involves you swinging the kettlebell from between your legs up to chest height back and forth like a pendulum. However, with this specific workout I am modifying that lift by having you swing the bell all the way up to above your head rather than just to chest level. This adds a whole new world of intensity to the lift. In addition to swinging it above your head you are going to be swinging the bell in continuous motion for time instead of reps. The amount of time to swing the bell in this fashion will be 2 minutes. If you have done anything for 2 minutes such as jump rope, hitting the bag, or even running at a fast pace you know just how hard this is going to be. Start the drill with a moderately heavy bell. Make sure to properly execute the hip snap to generate the necessary momentum to keep the bell swinging through the arc-like motion.

If you haven't been introduced to kettlebell training until now then I am glad to be the matchmaker. This is no doubt the hardest hitting fat burning cardio exercise you can do. Take the time to learn more by accessing the rest of my articles on the matter. Remember that anyone can train hard, but only the best train smart!

Hill Runs - Check Out These 2 Dynamic Ways to Run Hills!

Running hills is a great way to crank up the level of intensity in your cardiovascular fitness. You know that you don't have to waste your time on any long straight runs. If you are like most of us then the steeper the hill is the quicker you want to get to the top! This is why I am a big fan of hill runs. Allow yourself a minute to read and learn these 2 dynamic ways to get to the top.

1. Backwards Runs, Hill Back Pedaling: This is a sure way to intensify your runs and burn your quads more than you can imagine. The concept is simple. After getting properly warmed up and depending on the distance and grade of the hill you simply just turn your back to run backwards up the hill. The key to doing this effectively is to naturally lower your center of gravity the steeper the climb. If you can possibly find a hill that is around a 30-45 degree angle and is about a distance of 20 yards these dimensions would be perfect for sprinting and higher intense runs.

2. Uphill Side Shuffle: This is certainly a unique way to get to the top of the hill. You want to start at the bottom and turn your body to one side. From here you want to rapidly shuffle with decent strides as you climb to the top. For instance, if you are leading up the hill with the right leg then it will be doing most of the pulling motion while you are predominately pushing off of the left leg. This is a great contrast in movement when it comes down to the overall conditioning of the drill. This anaerobic training exercise is great for developing cardiovascular fitness as well as leg power. The key is to make sure that you don't cross over your feet when you are shuffling.

Outstanding Cardio in Your Garage - 2 Great Cardio-Blasting Drills You Can Do Right in Your Garage!

Most of us stay so busy with family and work that we don't have the time or the motivation to pack a bag and drive to the gym. Well the good news is that to get into great shape you don't have to be. Allow yourself a minute to read and learn about how you can achieve amazing cardiovascular fitness by going no further than moving your car out of the garage and engaging in these cardio routines.

1. Military Style Jumping Jacks: That's right, I said jumping jacks! Now you may think you know how to do jumping jacks, but the only way I know is military style. The difference in this style of jumping jacks and everyone else's style is the count. To begin this great cardio blasting drill stand straight with your feet together and your hands by your side. From here jump to spread your feet wider than shoulder width while simultaneously raising your arms overhead. Immediately return to the original position to start all over again for the next one. The key here though is that with the military style jumping jack you do at least 3 in a row before that can count as a single rep! My challenge to you to gain superior cardiovascular conditioning is to knock off 100 of these bad boys without stopping!

2. Jump Rope: The jumping rope cardio workout is another fabulous way to get a great workout and to develop hand/eye coordination at the same time. Its all about keeping the right pace. Feel free to include the jump rope into your cardio program along with the jumping jacks. The beauty is that both of these drills can be done independently, used as interval bouts, or can be involved in a total conditioning circuit! My challenge for you with the rope is to jump for 3 minutes nonstop, rest for a minute and do another 3 minutes! Be strict with your rest time and complete 3 rounds of 3 minute jumping intervals. If you want superior cardiovascular conditioning and to promote some serious weight-loss then these 2 drills are just for you!

Women's Cardio - 2 Hard-Hitting Cardio-Conditioning Drills For Women That Don't Involve Running!

Fit Woman by p90xMaria Aguayo by burcerneri

I have included in this article 2 hard-hitting cardio drills to help you ladies get into shape fast! The beauty is that you don't even have to worry about running to do it. Women's fitness is a big deal these days. I know all you ladies have the desire to be built like an Uma Thurman or Megan Fox, but remember that it takes work to do so. If you have the inner drive and a good work ethic then you will like the following 2 drills I have included here.

1. Squat Thrusts: This is a tremendous drill for you to perform in order to speed up the overall progress of your weight-loss and fat-loss campaign. In order for your fitness training program to be successful you must train with intensity. To begin, squat thrusts are performed by standing with your feet shoulder width apart. Next, you will want to crouch down to place your hands on the ground in front of you. From here kick your feet back extending your body until you are in an upright push-up position. From here simply kick your feet back up underneath you until you are back into the crouched position and stand up. All of this counts as a single repetition. If you want to get your heart pumping fast then attempt to do 25 of these in a row!

2. Squat Thrusts With A Jump: To continue your fitness and exercise cardio program you will want to continue with performing these multi-joint movements in order to achieve a high level of cardiovascular conditioning. The amazing thing is that at this point you still haven't taken your first stride into a run, yet you are breathing heavily and feel like you have ran at least a mile! For this drill you will simply want to execute it in the same exact way as you did the normal squat thrusts. The only difference is that in the final phase of the squat thrust, instead of just standing up to transition into the next repetition, you will want to explode vertically into a jump! When you land then transition into the next repetition. Attempt to execute 25 of these in a row! Train hard ladies and enjoy.
