The Kettlebell Man's Back - The Single Best Exercise to Strengthen Your Lower Back & Rid Your Pain!

A lot of back injuries have to do with weaknesses in your core. Core muscles incorporate everything except your extremities. Any motion that might have caused you to bend over and then you experienced an injury was more than likely due in part to some weakness in your core area. The key to helping this, of course, is to strengthen that core area to prevent it from happening again, or to reduce the risk of it happening for the first time.

Let me introduce to you the kettlebell swing. You may know by now that kettlebells are an ancient strength and conditioning device that has been around for over three centuries. Kettlebells have been used by the world's greatest athletes and strongmen to perform the most impressive feats of strength and athletic performance. By initiating the most basic strength endurance lift with the kettlebell known as the double arm swing you truly engage your lower back and hips throughout the entire movement.

This is a tremendous lower back muscle workout. To perform the double arm swing you basically pick up the iron ball with both arms and swing it from between your legs all the way up to chest level. The swing is properly performed by you having to initiate a movement known as the hip snap. This hip snap is done by fluently and consistently flexing and extending at your knees and hips to create the necessary momentum to swing the kettlebell back and forth in an arc like motion. This is where you lower back and hips truly get strengthened during the movement. I cannot think of a better lower back workout exercise for your much needed relief.

Of course, before performing any new exercise or free weighted lift always get approval from your physician and make sure that your technique is flawless before you jump into it. Kettlebell training is a skilled art form. There is a learning curve involved, but once you learn it the benefits are endless. Remember that anyone can train hard, but only the best train smart!
